About the Region

Situated at the foot of the Fleurieu Peninsula, Kangaroo Island (KI) has unique and diverse natural resources underpinning a range of industries such as wool and sheep production, commercial fishing, and nature-based and farm-based tourism.Approximately one third of the island is dedicated to national parks and conservation reserves and is recognised as one of Australia's iconic national landscapes. The island covers an area of 4370 square kilometers, is home to approximately 4,700 residents and attracts more than 160,000 visitors each year.
