Overview

Position: Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream (Contractually Limited Term Appointment, two-year full-time, beginning Aug 1, 2026); end date July 31, 2028; faculty of University of Toronto Scarborough.

Responsibilities

The candidate will develop and teach courses in media industry studies, including lecture preparation, delivery, curriculum development, and online material. They will conduct research on the political economic, industrial, and technological dimensions of media production, distribution, and labour beyond North American contexts, focusing on the Global South and creative regions such as Bollywood, Nollywood, and Latin American streaming economies.

Qualifications

• PhD in Media Studies, Communication Studies, Critical Platform Studies, or related field (or expected within a few months of appointment).
