Job Description

Lead legal initiatives as In-House Counsel within our Indigenous Child Wellbeing Agency. This permanent role enhances service delivery through legal guidance and training.
Reporting to the Legal Services Manager, the In-House Counsel will engage with the CYFSA and other related laws. You will help develop cultural identity frameworks while providing legal support for case planning and management. The position requires fostering collaboration between staff and community members while focusing on the rights of Indigenous children and families.
Key Responsibilities:
• Advise Agency staff on family law and child welfare
• Draft and review all legal documentation for court
• Represent the Agency in hearings and tribunal proceedings
• Mentor and support a Legal Assistant
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures
Requirements:
• LL.B., Juris Doctor, or equivalent degree
• 2-3 years of litigation experience
