A mainframe developer with strong IBM Assembler (HLASM) skills is a specialist responsible for developing, maintaining, and modernizing critical, low‑level enterprise applications that require precise control and high performance. This role often involves supporting legacy systems in core industries such as banking and finance.
Role Descriptions
Development and Maintenance – Creating, enhancing, and maintaining mainframe applications using Assembler, often in conjunction with other languages such as COBOL, CICS, PLI, and JCL.
Debugging and Issue Resolution – Performing active debugging, performance tuning, and issue resolution using specialized tools such as IBM Debug Tool, Fault Analyzer, and IPCS to analyze dumps and logs.
