Job Description

Job description

Oxygenated organic radicals are key drivers of the chemistry in many systems, such as the metabolism of living organisms, polymerisation, combustion systems, and the natural environment (Earths atmosphere). But very few techniques are available to detect them today. We are seeking a highly-motivated researcher to work on the development and application of a mass spectrometric technique (proton transfer mass spectrometer, PTr-MS) to the detection of individual oxygenated organic radicals in ambient air, as part of the prestigious European Research Council (ERC) Advanced project EPHEMERAL. The work will include the characterization and optimization of a state-of-the-art Time-of-flight mass spectrometer (PTr-MS) and other instruments to detect these radicals in laboratory and ambient air. This position will be in the Nozière group at the Department of Chemistry of KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden.
