Detailed Overview
The Rehabilitation Assistant supports the Physiotherapist and/or Occupational Therapist by assisting designated patients with assigned rehabilitative activities. Responsibilities Assists patients with established rehabilitiative activites such as mobility and strengthening exercises, walking programs, hydrapool program, and activities of daily living as directed. Demonstrates to patients the use of prescribed treatment/adaptive devices such as braces, wheelchairs, walkers, and modified eating utensils and personal care items. Monitors patient response during activities and reports observations of patients' behaviour and progress to the Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist. Communicates concerns and/or changes in patients' condition. Assists patients in dressing and toilet needs as required in preparation for and following rehabilitative treatment; assists with patient lifting/transfers and positioning as directed.
