Job Summary
Under limited supervision, the Wound, Ostomy, and Continence (WOCN) provides an in-depth plan of care to patients of all ages—from neonate to adult—with wounds, ostomies, or continence issues throughout inpatient units across the division.
The role coordinates nursing management and collaborates with other health care providers to implement progressive changes. This position updates clinical practice based on current research and changes in patients’ age and level of development, with consideration of the patient’s family needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Travel between MUSC Downtown, MUSC Northeast, and MUSC Kershaw several times a week for consults and weekly assessments.
- Assess, monitor, and treat different types of wounds weekly at all three campuses.
- Assist with ostomy training and education in the MUSC doctor's office as required.
